Sleningford Watermill is a 20-acre site of mature river meadow beside the ancient river Ure. There are four distinct areas in the park: The "Island", The Riverside, The Driveway and The Millfield.
The "Island"
The largest area for tourers, consisting of grass pitches with and without electric that can accommodate any type of unit. It got its name due to the mill race channel that used to power the old watermill on site. The area is bounded by the river on one side and the mill race (now a tiny stream) on the other, which re-joins the river at the far end of the site. It might not be a ‘true’ island, but you will feel like you are somewhere special. The furthest point of the Island is Mole End, reserved for guests without dogs. If you are very quiet, you might see our otters!
For our guests booking allocated pitches on ‘The Island’, be reassured that your pitch is clearly demarcated on all sides to ensure you have plenty of space. You are welcome to book an allocated pitch on ‘The Island’ even if you do not need to use the electric hook up.
The Riverside
This area is closest to the courtyard facilities. There are 7 hardstanding pitches on the riverbank, one standalone hardstanding pitch (the "Courtyard pitch"), and two grass pitches in front of our namesake watermill (the "Mill pitches"). All have lovely views of either the river, or the old watermill. The Riverside area also has a small flat that sleeps up to four guests (sorry, no dogs). This sympathetically restored space sits right next to the original waterwheel. Enjoy a little more comfort, while still feeling you are getting back to nature.
The Driveway and The Millfield
These areas are for seasonal guests. The Driveway pitches follow the gentle sweep of the entrance and offer some of the best view of the river. The Millfield is a separate field behind the Mill House offering a quieter and more secluded space to relax.
More information about the areas available for touring and seasonal guests can be found below.

We have a fantastic seasonal community at Sleningford Watermill. Seasonal pitches are located on The Driveway, with lovely views of the river, or in The Millfield behind reception, where there is more green space for children to play. Our season runs from 1st April (or the Easter bank holiday weekend, if this falls earlier) until the 31st October. Winter storage is not available but there are several options locally and some will collect your caravan. Awnings can be left up all season. Please contact us for more information about seasonal pitches and availability.
