Bookings and availability

BOOK A STAY

We are now open for bookings.

You can book by following this link

Sleningford Watermill is a peaceful, family friendly campsite with a strong focus on wildlife conservation. We are suited to wildlife lovers who love to relax listening to the sounds of nature and to families who want a safe environment for their children to explore, play and learn about the natural world. We ask guests to consider carefully before making a booking with us if this is the right site for them. Our focus on conservation means that fires are not allowed on site, and that there are no areas on site or in the river where dogs can be let off the lead (although there are lots of great walks leading from the site in all directions where you can let your dog have a good run). While many of our guests enjoy staying up late, wrapped up in their camping chair with a mug of hot cocoa and enjoying the clear night sky, we have a strict policy on late night noise – or noise at any time of the day or night that is disturbing other guests.

If you are looking for a place to party or play music, a site where you can have a campfire or somewhere that provides more freedom for your four-legged friend this is not the site for you and we respectfully ask that you look for a site more suited for your needs. If you are seeking a quiet, peaceful and family friendly holiday... look no further! We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you to the site very soon!

Please read the following information carefully before making a booking using the button at the bottom of the page.

  • Our Terms and Conditions for booking.
  • Our accommodation page, where you can find information on the different areas available to book.
  • You may also find our tariff page helpful, where you can find information on minimum number of nights at weekends and check in/out times.

Further detail, depending on the type of booking you wish to make, can be found in the drop down menu below (click the relevant title for more information). Please read this carefully, especially if you are planning to visit with one or more other families.

  • Information on checking availability

To check live availability, please click the button at the bottom of the page and select the category you need.

If the calendar on the booking form is showing availability, but then on selecting number of nights it says "no units available", this means we do not have availability on any pitch in that area that runs right through your selected dates.

Please note that the categories "RES. ELECTRIC" and "RES. NON-ELECTRIC" are only to be used by guests who have a space saved for them by friends or a staff member. These are not physical pitches, but a holding area.

  • How to book and make payment(s)

    BOOKING

Our booking form has different options depending on whether you are visiting as one family, reserving a space for friends or taking up a reserved space (if you are taking up a reserved space, please read the relevant drop down boxes for additional information). When you submit a booking form you will be sent an automatic email to acknowledge receipt of your booking request (as well as a “new customer” email, if this is the first time you have submitted a booking using our new system, which will give you your log-in credentials which you will need later to pay your deposit and your balance). Your booking has not been confirmed or accepted at this stage; all bookings are provisional until we have sent you a confirmation email to let you know we are able to accept your booking. This can take up to 48 hours at busy times.

    PAYMENT

We take all deposit and balance payments through the website using Sagepay. Deposit payments are due within three days of making a booking - please wait until we have confirmed that we are able to accept your booking before making a payment. (the full balance is due within three days if you are only booking for one night). The full balance of your booking is due three weeks before your arrival date. If you have not paid your deposit within three days, or do not pay your balance within three weeks of your arrival date, your booking will be cancelled and the pitch will be made available for other guests to book on the system, although we will make every effort to contact you first. You are also able to pay your balance in full or in instalments until three weeks before arrival.

  • If you are booking and want to reserve additional pitches for friends/family

To reserve additional spaces while making a booking, please select “Yes, I am the lead booker” when asked the question “Do you want to reserve spaces for other guests?”. A text box will appear, please indicate here how many electric and non-electric pitches you need including your own, and what the name of the group is (e.g. "summer fun camping trip").

Please note that if your group is going to be a mix of electric and non-electric, please select the category that you need, not the category that the main contingency of the group will need. If you need non-electric, but some group members need electric, you will be able to state which electric area the group would like to be in the text box. When you are asked what your “party size” is, this refers to the number of people on your pitch only, not the number of pitches you need or the total number of people in the group.

Once you have received confirmation of your booking, the rest of your group will have three days to put in a booking form of their own. It is your responsibility to make it clear to the group that the spaces are only reserved for a short time, not booked. Please make sure that they are also aware of the area that you have booked so that they book the correct category of pitch.

Please do not fill in forms on behalf of other members of your group, as the submission of a booking form creates an account on our system. Accounts should only be created by the account user, who is responsible for their own credentials, payments and acceptance of terms and conditions. We are unable to accept booking forms submitted by anyone other than the pitch holder.

  • If you are joining friends/family who have reserved a space for you

To take up a space reserved for you by a friend/family member, please book using the category "RES. ELECTRIC" if you need electric or "RES. NON-ELECTRIC" if you do not need electric. There will be an option to indicate who you are joining on the booking form.

  • D of E / Scouts / respite service / service user group bookings

If you are making a booking for a D of E, Scouting, respite service or service user group your booking is more suited to being put into the system by staff. Please contact us using our contact form to arrange a stay.

IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO VISIT WITH ANOTHER FAMILY: Please do not make bookings on behalf of other guests, they must submit their own booking form. We are unable to accept bookings submitted by someone other than the pitch holder. Aside from indicating that you wish to camp with other guests, the booking form is about your pitch/family only. Do not include anyone other than your family on your form. Please see drop down menu above for detailed information about how to reserve space for other guests.

RES. ELECTRIC/RES. NON-ELECTRIC CATEGORIES: The 'res. electric' and 'res. non-electric' categories should only be used by guests who have had a space blocked off for them by a friend or staff member - this is only a holding bay on the bookings software, not a physical area on the site.

"NO UNITS AVAILABLE MESSAGE": If the calendar on the booking form is showing availability, but then on selecting number of nights it says "no units available", this means we do not have availability on any pitch in that category/area that runs right through your selected dates.
