By Car:

From the South (A1, Ripon/Thirsk)

1. Exit Junction 50 → Roundabout 2nd exit (Masham A6055) → 3.3 miles
2. Roundabout 1st exit → B6267 (Masham/Kirklington) → 3.2 miles
3. Turn left → West Tanfield (brown tourist sign)
4. After 1 mile → right at small roundabout toward West Tanfield village
5. In village → left at roundabout (A6108) → pass Bull Inn & bridge
6. Park entrance → left ~½ mile up the hill

From the North (A1, Northallerton)

• Exit Junction 51 → follow A6055 parallel to A1 for 7 miles → then follow steps 3–6 above

From the North (A19)

• Take A168 south → A1 interchange → follow signs to Junction 50 → then follow steps 2–6 above

From Ripon

• North through market square → left at Clock Tower onto A6108 (Masham) → 3.5 miles to North Stainley → park <1 mile on right

Travelling by train:

The nearest railways stations are at Harrogate (16 miles), Northallerton (19 miles) and Thirsk (16 miles). There is a regular bus service (No.36 operated by Harrogate & District – 01423 566061) between Leeds and Ripon via Harrogate and a bus service from Northallerton to Ripon via Thirsk (Nos. 70 & 170 operated by Proctors Coaches – 01677 425203).

Travelling by  bus:
